DPTO RECRUITING BOARD MEMBERS FOR 2009-2010

The DPTO needs YOU!! Volunteers are needed for leadership roles and other positions in the DPTO for the school year 2008-09. Appointments must be made for certain positions by mid-May, not only for a smooth transition for the following school year, but also to work this summer on certain activities (school directory, logo products and a welcome committee).

The positions that need to be filled before the end of the school year are:
-DPTO President
-Logo Product Coordinator (to oversee the production of t-shirts, other clothing, and possibly products such as notebooks and pencils with the Discovery logo)
-School Directory Coordinator (to oversee the sale of ad space and printing of the school directory – this is one of our top moneymakers, very important!)
-Welcome Committee Chair (to plan and coordinate welcome activities for new families and new teachers)

Congratulations to Discovery School Drama club!

Bravo to Drama coach Annalicia Whittaker for the debut performance of the Discovery drama club! There were laughs and tears, lots of food, and some memorable moments. it was a big success and congratulations to the players for their excellent effort: (Elementary) Mathew, Daniella, Angelyn, Dean, Cassie, Elisabeth, Ian and Isabella; and (Secondary) Sachi, Vivianna, Luigi, Monica, Elizabeth, Teo, Francisco, Sarah, Sandy, Nacho, Maria, Lucas, Josh, Victoria, Jimena, and Max. Thanks to the Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de Ultimas Dias for loaning us their auditorium space!

DRAMA CLUB RECITAL TUESDAY MARCH 17 6:30 PM

Come and support the Discovery School Drama Club at their first performance ever! The recital will take place on TUESDAY, March 17 at 6:30 PM in the auditorium of the Church of latter-Day Saints (Iglesia de los Santos de los Ultimos Dias), located on Bulevar Morazan, across from the Pollo Campero. Plenty of parking is available in the lot in front of the building.

The students will perform short dramatic as well as comedy sketches. Refreshments will be served. EVERYONE IS INVITED!!!!

6th grade Class Trip to Copan was amazing!

Congratulations to the 6th graders, for their excellent behavior during the Copan trip. The chaperones were so impressed by how well everyone got along, the complete lack of complaining during 2 8-hour bus rides, and how much ENERGY they had...! Many thanks to Mr. Micks and team for an excellent trip!

DPTO MEETING WEDNESDAY MARCH 11, 8 AM in Discovery Cafeteria.
Agenda includes:
Spring Events: Garage Sale/Business Showcase/Carwash; Family Night April 30; Staff Appreciation Week; Recycling Bin Purchases; and General Assembly Volunteers/Elections.

Of course treats and coffee will be provided by DPTO. Please stop by to voice your ideas for the Spring Events.

Elections for DPTO officers will be held in May. Please think about running for DPTO and be a contributor to your child's education. The school needs you!

Por supuesto que café y bocadillos serán ofrecidos por el DPTO! Por favor venga y comparta con nosotros sus ideas para estos eventos de Primavera.

Las Elecciones para los oficiales del DPTO se llevarán a cabo en Mayo. Por favor considere en lanzarse para un puesto en el DPTO, y así contribuir con la educación de su hijo(a). La escuela nos necesita!
