Fun Run - WOW!
Congratulations to the Fun Run Committee of the DPTO for a fantastic event! Kudos to our volunteers: Kris Angerthal, Chantal and Michael Von Schoenberg, Fabrizio Cross, Anke Afflerbach, Stefan Haberle, David Thompson, Priscila Izar, Eduardo Retes, Tony Lu, Susan Cheung, Steve Angerthal, Darrell Freeman, Alison Ergang-Prek, Katie Majoris, Holger Afflerbach, Sigret Sanes, Yulia Melara, Marcela Vargas, Virginia Cochran, Rochelle Benning, Nicholas von Schoenberg, Elizabeth Morrison, Amy Robertson, Yolanda Zurita, Nina Glynn, and Pancake man Tony McClure, as well as the Student Council volunteers: Sara, Victoria, Teo, Ana, Oscar, Rodrigo, Student Community Service volunteers: Mario, Ana, Jose, Jonathan and Andrea; and our teachers, Debra Giles, Carlos Ferrera, Gloria Palacios, Cristiana Banegas, Regina Ochoa, Gigi Mejia, Rebecca Lambeth, Mathew Blake, Charissa Needham, Maricarmen Raunelli, and Christina Hurley; the cafeteria ladies and Juan and his crew who helped make this a big success.
The DPTO raised L. 39,180! Six kids from the Pilar Salinas School for the Blind participated in our race, and in the end we donated L 3,000 to them to purchase new track shoes. We also collected dozens of pairs of used running shoes to donate to them. After expenses for food and supplies were paid we will pass the remaining profit of L. 29,045 to the Discovery School Athletic Department to purchase sports equipment for Discovery School.
It was a great day!

Dear DPTO,
ReplyDeleteI want to congratulate you for a WONDERFUL event! Special thanks goes to Kris, Jackie and Amy and all the teacher and parent volunteers. It was really a fun family event. I have not heard a single person, child or adult, say that they did not have the greatest time. It was well organized, inclusive, safe and brought everyone together. I specially appreciated the invitation you extended to the blind children, and requesting shoes for this group. It emphasizes our commitment to social responsibility, and puts our kids directly in contact with the needs of the community. Needless to say, you accomplished all of this AND also made a nice profit for the PE department. Congratulations for a very successful event.
Best regards,
Nina Adam-Glynn
